Question by : How good a dunker would Blake Griffin be if he had longer arms?
he can jump really high but he also has short arms relative to his height. He looks like godzilla. He’s already a monster imagine if he had longer arms. He would’ve hung on the rim over mozgov, mad the dunk on Splitter and Stuckey etc.
It also means that if he loses jumping power his dunking ability will decrease dramatically. Amare Stoudemire lost some jumping ability but he can still hammer it down because he has long arms.

Yeah. I understand that what you mean. When his leap becomes lower as he gets older than his dunks wouldn’t be as powerful but he would have good arms to throw it down with.

We would all probably sit there with our tongues sticking out, not that we already don’t. But Griffin is only going to be good until his athletic ability runs out if he doesn’t develop a better jump shot that people have to respect. I think he will, but there have been a 1000 players that were beasts and now we don’t even remember their names.
I don’t think that he actually does have short arms relative to his height, I think he’s just muscular which makes his arms appear shorter in comparison to a lot of NBA players who aren’t as built. There are also a lot of NBA players whose wingspans are much longer than their height when it is usually not as drastic. The first link below describes him as having a “good wingspan” the second link lists his wingspan at 6’11.25”
If he had longer arms he would probably be better since his reach would improve but it’s also possible that shorter arms give him more power. Either way he is amazing to watch.
Well if D. Rose was Griffin’s height he would be a better dunker. But he is already good dunker and of course he would be better. Amare’s knee problems didn’t help him at all
